If you walk around the campus of USC down Fig from downtown LA, at night your eye will likely be drawn to two well-lit arcs which bracket the sides of the relatively new Ritz-Carlton. My girlfriend takes it as a given fact of her future life that she will be living in the penthouse of said Ritz-Carlton. Given that this week she has been asked to interview for neurobiology PhD programs at both the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University, the only universities she applied to that have started inviting anyone for interviews so early, I have every confidence in her. It’ll be nice riding on her coattails for the rest of her life. I hope she doesn’t mind. At least I dibsed her before she gets rich and famous. Given that in addition to overlooking the entire city, the penthouse lies above the Nokia Plaza of LA Live, I think the neighborhood goes well with her partying personality [she has recently listed to the Taio Cruz song “Dynamite” even more times than she has read the entire Harry Potter series, which says a lot].
